Alternain Sports

There are of course all the known sports from canon but in Aleph Null there are a few to add into the mix.

This Aleph Null's sports are a combination of both physical prowess and technology. There are 5 more mainstream sports that all tend to have a bigger fanbase, one of which the Empress herself attends the finals of.
Any blood castes can play these sports there is no segregation in these games.

  • Gladiator fights are one of the more popular sports on alternia that is set up like a tournament where fighters go up against each other one on one in separate platform rings. Each troll is paired up with another and you fight one V one. It is set up a lot like the tron disk wars .You are allowed to choose your own melee type weapons, any long range weapons are against the rules. To get to the next stage you need to defeat your opponent, there are no rules about not killing your opponent but they can choose to yield. If a player yields they give up the match and can leave without any more harm.

  • Lightcycle War is a team sport with inspiration taken from Lightbike racing in Tron. The motorcycles the players use are heavily armored and usually decorated with the teams colors in neon. The only colors that aren't allowed to be used are tyrian fuchsia and bright candy red. You can use any melee weapon of choice. The goal of the game is to take as many players out of the game is to be the first over 40 points. There are no rules against harming other players or destroying other players' bikes.  A team is made up of 7 players and usually there are backup players but they don't participate in games unless a main player is sick or something happens.  There are the team captains, two bashers, two chasers and two runners.  Bashers have the most heavily armored bikes and are harder to destroy but are slower than the others, their goal is to break though any other players and destroy their bikes, or they can be used to defend runners and are worth 5 points. Chasers have the second fastest bikes but less armor, their goal is to try and heard the other teams players into a space where they can break their bikes or a basher can. Chasers are also worth 5 points.  Runners have the fastest and most agile bikes but the least amount of armor, these players are worth 15 points. Since they are worth the most points to take out they are usually the ones bashers and chasers go for, their goal is to survive for as long as posable. Captains have a balanced bike, heavy armor, good speed and agility, they are also usually the most skilled players on a team. Captains are usually worth 10 points.  (The battle royal version of this usually has 10-15 players participating using captain class bikes and you need to be the last player standing to win.)

  • Motorally is an offshoot sport with way more maneuverable and lighter bikes on a motocross track but less hills and it's all pavement. It also has battle royal type aspects. You need to race other players while trying to catch a ball that's going around the track while other players also try to catch it in 15 laps or until no competitors are left standing. Again there are no rules against playing dirty, you can destroy other players bikes or knock them out of the track all together. This sport is completely solo. Inspiration for this  is from motorball from alita battle angel.

  • Alternian Pod Races are similar to most other versions of a pod race set up on a very large course with obstacles. The best example I can give is the pod race from Star Wars but with more aerodynamic, sleeker ships. It is usually 6 laps around these obstacle tracks in high speed racers that stay close to the ground. Like every other spot there is no rules against destroying other players' racers or in some cases killing other players. Playing dirty is a normal thing as long as you stay on the track.

  • Cybernetic robot fighting is the last sport. In this sport you build your own fighting robots or you work with a team to build them. Some of these built robots can even go up against drones. You can enter fights where you put the robots you make against each other. One of the more interesting aspects of this sport is the use of cybernetics. There is always one controller troll who is hooked up through cyberspace and pilots the robot like a VR mech from outside the ring. It is pretty much bluetooth cybernetic robot fighting, similar to Sonnie’s Edge from Love Death and Robots.
