The drones in this Aleph Null are all completely robotic, more like androids. Each set of drones all being controlled by an A.I. designed to execute the tasks the drone is built for. They have kept developing and been put through modifications for over 1400 years and at this point. They can almost be considered fully conscious. They are still technically robots, just highly advanced ones.

Every one of these is considerably hard to destroy. They are mostly made of carbon fiber plates with a second interior layer of graphene. Graphene is also known as a "supermaterial". It is a mere one-atom thick but Despite this, graphene is also one of the strongest materials in the known universe. It has a tensile strength of 130 GPa (gigapascals), it is more than 100 times stronger than steel. Nanny drones are only deployed on the kid planets and take care of and organize the young trolls. They are also there to take jade trolls places and pick up the slack. They take care of grubs as well as teach for the schooling system. They have a more life-like AI.

Dispatch drones are hunter killer drones programmed with the enforcer A.I. They are considerably hard to destroy and to try to fight one is usually a death sentence. They are programmed with all the laws of combat and don’t have the disadvantage of feeling pain or emotion. They are not usually in use unless uprising occurs. They are also dispatched to follow targets and monitor them.

Imperial drones are programmed to defend tyrian trolls and the Empress. The imperial drones sort of act like personal bodyguards. They do everything they are told to do unless it involves the harming of the Empress or another tyrian. For example if another tyrian intends to overthrow the reigning Empress/Emperor they can’t use their own personal drones to do so. All the drones are programmed to recognize the Empress/Emperor and they are not able to harm them. If any lowerblood were to try that also would not work. These drones can also be told to recognize trusted trolls as non treats and be assigned to protect that troll as well. These also have a recording system in them to keep track of the tyrian troll they are assigned to. This is supposedly for extra protection but this is a double edged sword if a tyrian is plotting treason or breaking any laws it is recorded and it will be sent to Her Unassailable Luminary. These drones however can be sent out of the room a tyrian is in, and instead they will wait like guards outside the room until their tyrian troll leaves.
